Can I have the solo cello and the tutti cello on same staff here
and have it play back correct?
My two cents : both in the same staff, the two celli parts would be difficult to read.
Yes, you can.
Use Independent Voice Playback and reserve one voice for the solo cello (ie do not use it anywhere else in the cello parts).

Interesting. I’m using Noteperformer. Is there any way to tell Noteperforfer that let’s say voice 2 up is solo cello?
Yes, that’s probably better.
I need divisi solo-gli altri some other place though.
Dorico does not condense solo with gli altri. You can fake it with a 1/2 usual (I mean the default) divisi and change the names to Solo and gli altri, and tweak the Play routing if needed.
