Condensing unison doesn't work

I have this flute passage. I want it to say ‘a2’ instead of using double stems. I tried putting in a condensing change to allow mid-phrase unisons, but it didn’t work. How do I fix this?

It looks like the dynamics don’t match, the p is missing in flute 2 and both dim. don’t be aligned properly. Put the dynamics in one staff and copy them to the other.

The piano mark is actually for the piccolo in the staff above the flutes.

I understand. Try to insert a condensing change in the bar where the flute 1 plays alone.
Just enable the flutes without changing any parameters. This forces the system to begin a new phrase.

This worked. Thank you!

Condensing does its work between “phrases” - with a “phrase” being everything between two (shared) rests.

I don’t see any rests in your screenshots, so the reason for Dorico not putting them on the same stem must be outside of the area we can see.

Yes.

@Viola32, feel free to upload a project for us to check out and we can give you more detailed instructions.

I had the same problem as @Viola32, although I have specifically selected “unison” in the notation options,

Dorico keeps displaying two stems on my flutes here and there, even though… the phrase isn’t finished.

Why do I have to tell it that the phrase continues when it hasn’t been interrupted by any rest? Really annoying.

Can you post the entire phrase?

It’s in bar 3 that Dorico starts adding double stem, even though I specified unison in the notation options. The strangest thing is that he doesn’t do it for the oboes.
I should point out that no dynamics nor slurs have been engraved yet

Actually I meant the (cut-down) Dorico file

And, with your recommandations I have cited :

The crucial part are the different note durations in bar 2 in the flutes (unlike the oboes). Without forcing to begin a new phrase Dorico keeps the split into two voices.

“Now cracks a noble heart. Good night, sweet prince, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.” (Shakespeare, Hamlet ActV sc2).
