Configuring cubase display for laptop users

Hi everyone,

I’m using Cubase Pro 15 on a MacBook Pro M1 Max 16", so screen real estate is limited. I’m trying to configure the layout so everything is easier to see and access without constantly opening and closing windows.

In Ableton, I really like how the plugin/device rack sits neatly at the bottom of the screen, making it easy to view the arrangement and tweak plugins without floating windows everywhere.

Is there a way to set up Cubase in a similar style? For example, keeping plugin controls, inserts, channel settings, mixer, or frequently used tools docked/visible in a compact layout?

What workspace/layout settings would you recommend for MacBook Pro users to make Cubase feel more streamlined and efficient on a smaller screen?

Any tips for Workspaces, Lower Zone, MixConsole, Inspector, plugin windows, or scaling settings would be appreciated.

I would suggest defining a number of workspaces and assigning those to hotkeys.

Think about your most frequent actions and what the window configuration looks like to accomplish those actions. Set up the number of workspaces for your common tasks and easily switch between those.

I had the same issue with Cubase after using Ableton for 6.5 years. But after using Cubase for almost 2 years, I’m used to it now. I still sometimes miss Ableton’s compact view, though. It keeps you in the creative zone.
