confused about upgrading

Hi all, probably a silly question,

Does the update update 7.06 to 7.5 or does it create an entirely new version?

Reason I ask is I was stupid when I installed v7 and my VST32 and VST64 plugin directories for things like Komplete and Omnisphere are all under the “Program Files / Steinberg / Cubase 7”

I should have put them in “Program Files / Steinberg” then I could update and remove old version easily. But I didn’t :frowning:

Thanks

Aloha O, and good question.

It would be nice if C7.0.x remained after installing C7.5.

That way if any major probs pop up, the user could just
go back to using the earlier version.

But IMHO this is not likely. Reason being when I installed C6.5
I no longer had C6.0.x anymore.

But never say never. Fingers crossed.

It creates a new version. I have 6.5, 7.0 and 7.5 all working alongside each other.

After installing 7.5, nothing is changed on your old installation. Cubase 7.5 has it’s own user profile, and also it’s own installation folder. So you will always be able to open for example Cubase 7, and continue working there if you want. 7.5 just adds a new Cubase 7.5 icon on your desktop

EDIT:
Steve was faster

Many many thanks

I’ll simply add the plugin directories in 7.0 to 7.5

6.5 yes. But do you still have 6.0.xx anymore?

I just checked my ‘Applications Folder’ and I do not.

I have C5.5.x/C6.5.v/C7.0.6.

I no longer have C6.0.xx.

Good news.

I stand corrected! Yea!

Hi curteye,

Cubase 6.5 indeed updated / replaced the Cubase 6.0 installation. Cubase 7.5, however, is a separate installation from 7.0

I’m still waiting to read your posts praising the new update

All the best
