Confusing colon

For a while, when using the colon key ; to invoke the tuplet popup, it would auto-populate with “5:4” instead of “3”, either during note input or selecting a note in Write mode. It has now mysteriously reverted to the “3” default.

Any ideas why this would happen?

I think the tuplet popover is populated with the last value used, so probably you’ve used 5:4 earlier in the project

I thought of that too, but activating different tuplet values didn’t change the “5:4” behaviour.

It auto-populates with a ratio that’s most likely, based on your selection. Ie if you have selected 5 notes, the tuplets popover assumes you might want a quintuplet of some description.

Technically a semicolon.

That would make sense - I just tried again and that’s true if you select either 5 or 7 notes (producing “5:4” or “7:4”) - but only sometimes!!! Seems to depend on context, phrasing and original note durations. When the “problem” first appeared it produced “5:4” regardless of context.

True that. Annoying because the colon in the tuplet ratio always makes me think I’m hitting a colon!
