Confusing USB driver issues

It appears that I have problems trying to use the StudioLive III 32R as an audio interface when used in combination with the Novation SL MKIII.

While this did appear to be working at one point, I have been running down the troubleshooting rabbit hole with a variety of problems.

The main symptom is that I am losing communication with the SL via USB MIDI. I also saw a case where several audio input channels started reporting inactive.

I don’t know how much more time I will spend on this. It’s amazing how many distractions one runs into trying to organize various ways of using Cubase.

I was considering moving to the StudioLive as my audio interface at some point but am having a variety of issues that appear related to USB driver conflicts.

Hi,

I don’t think this is related to Cubase in any way.

Ensure that none of the devices have sleep mode enabled. Also, ensure the USB ports don’t run into any kind of sleep mode, please.

Agreed that this is likely not a Cubase issue. However, it is causing issues with Cubase that might be informative.

Since I put this out there:

I updated the BIOS and some preliminary testing shows improvement and potentially resolved.

Early to say, but there did seem to be some fixes to USB that may have fixed it.

Check your cable … there are USB leads and USB leads.
I have a Series III 32SC and all 34 channels record perfectly … but it needed a really good USB cable to get there. And I have several USB slots on my live audio server. It only works with 2 of the USB slots. So it is a USB connectivity issue most of the time. Nothing to do with Cubase.
