You’re the first program to crash my computer in about 2 years.
I tried converting a flac file to a wav file. The whole system froze. Had to hold the power button to shut it down.

The FLAC decoder does not use any system level driver. If your whole computer freezes, the reason is certainly elsewhere (no idea where).
after having experienced some unexplainable behavior of windows (7, 64bit), i checked my system with both the versions of memtest. the windows version got me on the right path - it was all a problem due to incompatible rams.
