connecting a turn table to a UR44 or similar

I dont know nothing about impedance, voltage, etc…, I want to connect a turn table to make MP3 from old vinyl. Is there a way to connect direct or I have to connect thru a standard house amp ?

The only way I can see is connect it on my Harmon Kardon amp and use the tape out to the UR44.

Seems like a plan

An option…
When I recorded my vinyl I connected the RCA optputs of the turntable to the “Mic” input jack on the front of my PC through the original PC soundcard (needed an adapter to go from RCA to 1/8" stereo input connection). Then I used the free software Audicity to record them. It worked good. No amp required.

You need an phone pre-amp, an mic preamp gives some sound but not the RIAA correction needed for turntables.

Note: Some turntables have a builtin phone pre-amp giving in a line level output.

Also, different pre-amps needed for moving coil and the magnet coil turntable elements.

Good Luck!
