Connecting VST to MIDI track?

Hi,

I’ve been using Cubase 7 for a while now, and I’ve always created new “instrument tracks” when I want to use VST instruments. However, now I want to use some MIDI loops from one of my VST instruments, and when I import these midi loops it only recognises actual MIDI tracks. I cannot get these midi loops to the instrument tracks, which is understandable.

When I open a new MIDI track I can just choose from the “Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth” and “Game Controller 1”. I want to be able to choose VSTs like Kontakt 5 and PLAY 4.

So, how do I connect my VSTs to MIDI tracks? I use EastWest software (StormDrum 2 Pro is where I get the MIDI loops) and it works great to connect them if I use instrument tracks.

Try the F11 key. Also take a look at p.252 of the Operation Manual (English).
