Dear users,
Is it worth upgrading from version 12 to 14?
Does Nuendo 14 support importing Dorico project files, or only MusicXML?
I would appreciate your responses.

Financially it might be worth upgrading while there is a sale.
Practically I think that if you upgrade now don’t use it until they fix some of the problems. I would stick to either n13 or n12 if I were you and bought n14. Personally, I’m on n13 even though I got n14 when it was released, and it’s because n14 contains a bug they STILL haven’t fixed since release.
@prko: Like @MattiasNYC wrote - I’d avoid using NU14 right now. Quite a few seasoned users stick to NU13 or even NU12 (like me) for actual work, due to a number of issues and omissions.
As mentioned, financially it might make sense however I’d evaluate the trial and see if it’s worth it for you. Our team is still using N12 even though we have N14. There are too many issues to list but some of the major ones affecting our workflow are session incompatibility and the updated interface being a leap backwards in usability.
I haven’t noticed any of the above replies noting an issue importing Dorico projects….which was your specific question. Maybe ask opinions at the Dorico forum area.
Me personally…..I own Cubase 14, Nuendo 14, and Dorico. I myself don’t do much with Dorico and haven’t tested the new import-Dorico-project thing on n14. But yes, the import feature is there from what I see.
N14 works great for my uses.
I also don’t do atmos, don’t do post….I’m pretty much audio and midi between my Cubendo systems, primarily Nuendo on the master.
Me?…..Sure, I’d buy 14 now at that great price….and activate it. And use it, including with your Dorico stuff.
I dunno what Nuendo 15 will bring to the party when released April 2026….but I’ll certainly buy the 15 upgrade as well.
I’m not really in to gaming the price-system (buy now, don’t activate until 2060
)
The import feature will be the same as the one in Cubase 14, which mostly just imports the notes themselves and the appearance of the score. I think it keeps some of the note velocities but you lose the CC data and the articulation changes are for display only without having playback effect. So the Dorico import may not be that helpful to you as of yet.
