Consolidate music with Repeat bars for some players only

A quite common situation is that Player A will repeat the exact same music in two contiguous segments of bars, while Player B plays different music in those two segments. So I would like to consolidate the music by using repeats bars for Player A only. The Full Score should have whitespace in place of the second segment for Player A. Is there any way to do this?

It seems you are ready for rhythmic compression
Unfortunately this gorgeous feature is not implemented (yet) in Dorico.
You can duplicate the flow and modify the instruments that should be "consolidated…

Thank you, @MarcLarcher. Yes. I hearted a bunch of the posts in the forum thread you referenced, and the other thread referenced within it.

And as a side note: this can create a lot of confusion in rehearsals when the conductor says “take the second ending in the repeat”. Quite confusing for the player that does not have a repeat.

I have reached the conclusion that it is better to not do this kind of paper saving, but as they say in the car ads YMMV.

On the same rant, please add both rehearsal marks and bar numbers.

Well, we don’t do those kind of rehearsals. And when I am performing, I find it helpful to know that I am going to repeat a section. It frees up my mind to look ahead at an upcoming difficult section! Anyhow, Dorico is full of options which I look at and say to myself “Who in hell would want that??” I’m sure that many users would say that about this proposed option. We’re all different.

I remember exactly where I used that “duplicate flow” workaround. Some instruments were playing with a repeat, others not. But there were rehearsal marks. So any conductor would work with the rehearsal marks. Simply because the repeat bars do not exist in the full score (for obvious reasons).
The parts with the repeat bars happened to be way easier to handle (for the reader) since those repeat bars avoided a page turn.
