I know many people have been experiencing this since 12 was released, but has there been any fix/reason found? Cubase has always been super-stable for me - until I upgraded to 12. I reckon I’m lucky if I can work for 15 mins without it freezing. I then have to ‘End Task’ in the Task Manager. This means that most of the time, a dump file isn’t generated. This morning however I got one.
I’m running the latest update (12.0.60), have trashed preferences etc, and have added no new plugins.
My system:
Windows 10 (all updated),
AMD Ryzen 7 5800x,
64 GB of RAM.
I’ve uploaded todays dumpfile here: WeTransfer - Send Large Files & Share Photos Online - Up to 2GB Free
I’d be really grateful if someone can help me out with this - I’m finding it almost impossible to finish projects!
Unless a clever person on this forum can help you, I suggest to contact support.
Include this dmp file as well as a system config file ( they seem to consistently ask that ) and be patient. It is normal an answer takes more than a week.
Meanwhile you could try re-installing the latest graphics driver (clean, new install, omitting all but the core driver)
P.S. A dmp file can simply be attached to a post. No need to bother with WeTransfer.
Yes but,
I was given this advice ( and it solved a similar problem).
Perform a new install, and install only the core driver. So not all the fancy extras like Physx and gaming stuff.
You will find this option when installing NVIDIA drivers.
Well, these are plug ins I’ve been using for some time now (prob. going back to Cubase 9 or 10). Some are for room and headphones EQ correction, so essential for me.
Yes, I understand. I’m not saying you should uninstall or even remove plugins from your workflow. But since you are saying you have been having issues for a very long time, it could prove a good first step in narrowing it down to the root cause. So, for troubleshooting purposes only.
Yes, fair point.
However, I haven’t been having these issues for a long time - only since I upgraded to Cubase 12 last month. Previous versions have been stable.
That would be fine but since moving to 12 with song loaded it I get spikes and cracks in the audio,
The same ver of song in 11 and tue cpu sits about 10% , No spikes
Just in case this is of use to somebody else…
I seemed to have fixed it! It appears the problem was a misbehaving iLOk licence manager. It needs a PACE License service to start, but it would always default to ‘disabled’. I’ve now reinstalled the iLok software, and the service starts correctly. And since then, I’ve had no issues with Cubase crashing.
