This might be fairly simple: I want to add a continuation line to the “legato” playing technique so I could be specific about which groups of notes to play in this manner.
I typed in the technique using the popover, selected it, went into Library > Edit Playing Techniques and selected the “line” continuation type, but neither the line nor the little anchor points have appeared and no matter where I look I can’t find any further settings to make it appear. It’s not in the properties panel down below.
BOTH perfect solutions! I swear I tried the Shift+Opt+Right Arrow initially and all it did was move the marking to the right. Working perfectly now! Thanks!
I often need to add system-level stage or narrative instructions that apply across several bars. Is there a way to attach a continuation/duration line to System Text, so that it behaves like Playing Techniques or pedal lines and automatically spans multiple measures?
I just wanted to kindly follow up on my previous question: does anyone have any suggestions on how to embed a continuation line within text inside a frame, whether it’s system text or staff text in Dorico?
I don’t think you can. What you can do is use a line with the text as a line annotation. Here, I used Category text in the line annotation editor and added a border. Then I duplicated the solid line with inward-pointing hook, and chose the annotation under center annotation. Then set the placement to start. Now I have a new line under the lines panel that can be inserted as a staff-attached line, or a system-attached line with the alt/opt key held down.
