Continuous note input, past barlines

Hello Dorico Hivemind,

Former Finale user here.

Finale had a feature in speedy entry where one could enter notes past the length of the measure (i.e. it would not automatically move on to a new measure).

As I like to enter the rhythmic values prior to tuplet brackets, is this possible in Dorico? Currently by default this isn’t possible as it moves on to the subsequent measure once a measure is filled.

Much appreciated!
Brandon

Please investigate the Insert mode(s). Dorico will quite happily do this. In fact it is one of its strengths.

Yes, the notes are first written in the new bar, but as soon as you apply a tuplet to the first desired note, all the following notes will be then brought back to fill the tuplet, and (in case you wrote more notes that the tuplet can contain) the notes that don’t find place under the tuplet will be written after it, if you use Insert mode, as @Janus suggested.

Here an example of adding a tuplet to existing notes without insert mode activated and with insert mode activated:

New to Dorico, thanks for the reminder!!
