I use a Sound ID Reference plugin inserted in my Control Room section for Atmos and 5.1. It seems that most times when I close and open different projects the insert does not stay in place.
If I don’t constantly check this and I miss finding it missing it will affect the sound of a mix, and that’s not good.
Has anyone else experienced this? It’s a big problem for me.
Hi, I think Nuendo “remembers” the last opened session.
So if you open a session where the plugin is not inserted in the inserts in control room, it will also not load in the next session you open. I had quite the same issue, so I started making project templates, I/O and control room presets. Therefore I make sure, that every project uses the session template with all the plugins loaded in the inserts. Since then I’m fine.
cheers
Settings in the Control Room are independent of projects (what you refer to as sessions). so the insert should remain in the slot of the CR until it is manually removed.
@KMT333 Have you saved your CR settings as a preset in the Audio Connections?
One big problem I have, and I think this is my main problem is that my Control Room settings and any presets I have saved keep getting wiped out. I do absolutely nothing to make this happen. I just save and close my project and shut down my PC. then when I boot up and lead Nuendo, my settings and presets are just gone.
I go and check the Nuendo 14 Steinberg Roaming folder on my PC and I can see that the control room preset has been recently updated, but I did not do this.
This happens multiple times a week. Is it only me this happens to?
The inputs and outputs are fine, it’s just the control room that goes missing.
There have been a few other users reporting the same but for most of us it doesn’t happen. That makes it difficult to find a root cause for this most unwanted behaviour.
The preset file is here: %appdata%/steinberg/Nuendo 14_64/Presets/ControlRoomPresets.pxml
So in theory you should be able to open this folder in Explorer. Then launch Nuendo and watch it disappear. Maybe it will get replaced? Would be nice to hear what exactly happens and possibly also when (what does the splash screen show? is the hub opening? is a project opening?)
I would first make a copy of the file for easy retrieval.
Yes. I have a backup of the Nuendo 14 folder which has a good copy of this file. I tried copying the preset file from that over the bad one and it didn’t give me any of my presets back.
Even more strangely, when I saved a new preset the file you mention above does not update. ie the date modified dat does not change. It’s like this is not the actual control room preset file.
I’m looking here C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Nuendo 14_64\Presets
This folder exists nowhere else. Also, when I save key commands they end up here C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg\Nuendo 14_64\Presets\KeyCommands
Hello. One thing to consider is that if for any reason Nuendo or Cubase does not shut down cleanly after adding a Control Room insert it will not ve loaded next time or revert to a previous state. After closing Nuendo, check in Task manager if Nuendo process still running. It can sometimes be caused by a 3rd party VST in project or indeed the insert plugin itself in the control room.
Maybe try deleting the plugin cache for sound ID reference plugin aswell.
What I find odd though is that when I do save a control room preset the preset file does not update at all. The key commands do update when I save them or create new ones, but control room presets don’t.
