Nuendo 15.0.30 Build 287 here.
I am using Control Room per the manual.
It does not work UNTIL I disable and then enable it again. Is this normal behavior?
When I create a new empty project, Control Room is enabled by default.
Steps to reproduce:
Create a new Empty Project. Import audio and put it into the edit window, so you have something to playback. The output bus of the audio tracks is “Stereo 1.”
I disconnect my Output bus “Stereo 1” which is hardware channels 1 and 2 to use as my Control Room Monitor Outputs.
I select them in the Control Room tab under “Monitor 1” device, leaving “Stereo 1” disconnected in the Control Room tab.
Once I do this, SILENCE. If I then Disable Control Room, and then Enable Control Room, it now works as expected.

Hi all, still having this issue, any new project, when using Control Room, will not pass audio until I disable then enable Control Room.
Surely someone knows why this is happening.
Once the project is playing, Control Room works from then on when I quit and then reopen the project.
But on absolutely every single new project, it will not pass audio until I disable then enable it, the first time I need to playback a project.

Hi, I’ve never experienced this behaviour. Have you tried to trash the prefs files? It could be caused by a corrupted files somewhere.

This is actually a brand new reinstall. I was having issues with my laptop about a month ago, so I wiped the system drive clean, and reinstalled everything clean, not from a backup.
The issue existed before and after doing this clean reinstall.
First thing I’d check is whether this occurs with another audio device instead of the Dante VSC.

I agree with twelvetwelve, trying with another interface is a good idea. I haven’t notice you were using a virtual device. It’s possible that when Nuendo initialize, it can’t read the channels of the virtual device. Deactivating and reactivating the CR force Nuendo to rescan the ports.

So, I am out of the studio, using the built in audio of my laptop.
Opened a session where Nuendo chose built in audio automatically, since the Dante devices are not connected.
Had to go through the same rig-a-ma-roll:
- Choose new input and output buses. I went in order, input bus, output bus, then control room.
- In the output bus, only Stereo is there, and is disconnected, per the manual when using Control Room.
- In Control Room, which is ACTIVE when I opened the session, Stereo 1 is selectred as Monitor, and nothing else.
- I then have to go to the Mixer to re assign my output buss on every channel, which I set to Stereo 1.
- I press play, and SILENCE. GOLDEN SILENCE.
- I DISABLE Control Room. I get the warning pop up and press disable. A few moments pass.
- I ACTIVATE Control Room. A few moments pass as Nuendo activates it.
- NOW I GET SOUND.
So, this happens whenever I open a session for the first time after booting up the computer.
Now, IF I have Nuendo open, and I switch projects with the same audio drivers, then Control Room works across projects just fine. Does not matter if I have two projects open, or if I close a project and then open another project. Control Room is functioning as long as Nuendo is open.
It seems that this is happening when I change audio hardware.
I booted the computer, and opened Nuendo and then opened a session which I just played using Built In Audio, and Control Room is working as expected.
So it seems that, at least with the DANTE VIRTUAL SOUNDCARD, it is having issues playing back. Whose issue this is? Well, HINT: I also use Pro Tools 2026.4, and it does not do this when I open Pro Tools for the first time in the day, also using the same exact DVS driver and hardware. Maybe someone has some clue as to why this is happening with Nuendo.
