converting audio to midi with cubase

hi i just wondered if its possible to convert say a guitar track i have made into a mid track and the play it back using my korg without buying a sampler? is there a way in either cubase le4 or cubase 6(i have both) that can do this or do i need som kinda software converter?
cheers

There is a function to extract MIDI from audio using VariAudio (which is only available in the full version of Cubase). I have never tried and can’t speak to how good it is. In the Cubase 6 manual page 291 there is some discussion. Maybe you could download the Cubase 6 trial and test it out.

cheers i’ll have a look and see

Sammy c: I’ll give it a try. I convert audio drums to midi drums alot, but
not Guitar to midi with VariAudio in Cubase 6 yet.

sammy c: I just recorded a few bars of “BECAUSE” by the Beatles from
there Abbey Road Album on Guitar, and then converted the guitar audio to Midi
with VariAudio ( CUBASE 6 ) then Dragged that Midi track to an Instrument track.
I then assigned the Instrument track to Hallion and assigned that
to a Harpsicord sound. Look MA no KEYBOARD was used.
Interesting—I guess I have a Guitar Synth. :sunglasses:

PS: Sammy c — In my opinion Cubase 6, VariAudio,
Hallion, etc. could probably take the place of that “SAMPLER”
