Converting flow from 4/4 to Cut Time

Is there any easy way to convert an entire flow from 4/4 to cut-time when pick-up notes are in the flow? The attached file needs to be converted from 4/4 to cut time and I’m hoping to not have to re-write everything.

Also, there is a hidden rest in the top voice (clave) that might make things more interesting.

Help is appreciated, and thank you in advance!

Just to clarify, the change would be just a straight quarter note in 4/4 becomes half-note in cut time.

Sure. Select the red time signature signpost, hit Enter, then replace the existing contents (4/4,1) with cutc,0.5 and hit Enter.

If you don’t like the beaming in the clave, go to Notation Options > Beam Grouping > Beams and Rests, and set Rests in beam groups to Break beams at rests.

If you find that the Notation Options don’t give you the control you need for cutc, you might find this workaround helpful: A workaround for persuading Dorico 3.5 to beam/group 2/2 like 4/4

Was gonna reply, then saw the little Leo icon floating below the OP… haha you got this one!

I should go to bed…

Edit: oh wait, you wanted to double the durations. Bear with me.

  1. Replace existing time signature with cutc,1.
  2. Select first note of clave and untick starts voice property.
  3. Select All.
  4. Hit I to turn on Insert mode.
  5. Write > Edit Duration > Double Note Duration.
  6. Remove initial clave rest again.
  7. Add in repeat barlines that will have disappeared.
  8. Turn off Insert mode.
  9. Remove extraneous final bar (via Shift-B -1 Enter or System Track).

Thank you very much Leo!
