Copy and pasting with the new score editor

Let’s say I’m working with my string sections. Let’s take measure 8 where the cellos are playing a unique track other than the melody. Can I copy and paste using the new score editor ONLY to bring the notes in to this measure to the the viola track above which I have above the cello track.

Copy & Paste works in the Score Editor just like in other Cubase windows, such as the Key Editor. All selected objects can be copied to any other track (or staff). Paste always occurs at the play cursor position (green line in the Score Editor).

I will give it another try Pat when I open my recording studio this morning

It does not copy rests for some reason that occurs at the beginning of the measure. Also if you have the full score shown, the cursor does not copy and doubles the notes from the source measure. I have the update..

In Cubase, only events can be copied and pasted.
These are primarily MIDI events (notes), but in the Score Editor, articulations and other symbols can also be copied and pasted.
Rests are not events, but rather the absence of events, so they are not copied (and, incidentally, are not marked in Cubase when you create a frame).
If there is a playing instruction on the first beat, such as a forte symbol, this will be copied (and pasted), even if there is a rest there.

I can’t reproduce that, for me copy & paste works in both page view and fill view.
Paste is generally done at the play cursor position.

What is your operating system

I tested it under Win10pro, but I might try it again on my Macbook tomorrow.

The menu of the copy and paste from the edit window is what I’m using from the score editor screen - is that what you are using?

If it is not gonna copy the rests In that measure it has no purpose for me

Exactly, or I usually the corresponding keyboard shortcuts Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V.

If I place the play cursor (using Alt+Shift+left click) at the position where the first note (not the rest!) should be inserted, everything works fine.
The time references within the selected range are retained, so that all rests between the notes are present after insertion.

I will definitely give that a try.

Pat - Sorry for the delay I am in the middle of an orchestration and will make your suggestive procedure afterwards
