Copy instrument from kit to another player?

I’d like to not have to re-write,playing technigues for each each instrument, each time for each different drum kit, I’m using SD3 and so most drum kits overlap in midi layout. Is there away to copy, say, the hi-hat from one kit to another.
I do not wish to remove instrument.
if I use “add from existing player” will that remove the instrument from the other kit? or is that the way.

thanks

How about doing Duplicate Player, then once you’ve duplicated the player and its kit, you could then remove the duplicated hi-hat from the duplicated kit, then move that to the player holding the kit to which you want to add the hi-hat.

Yes that does bring all the techniques in. Thanks
Obviously tone removes the “now” old instrument. But this instrument still has the notation.
Then…
I have already existing music that I wish to paste from an older save. when I paste the percussion notation back into the music (remember it was removed when I swapped instruments and removed the old instrument) into the newly re-created percussion kit the notes are transposed up by one ledger. The hi-hat, for example doesn’t paste into postion 4, its universal spot, and the location of the percussion kit I have, but onto spot 5, where the ride cymbal resides.

hmm?

thanks

I guess the issue here could be that the internal IDs of the instruments in the kits don’t match up, so when you paste, Dorico isn’t able to completely correctly match up the instruments in both kits.

You could try showing both kits as individual instruments, rather than using the five-line presentation type, and then copy and paste between them that way – provided the instruments are in the same order in both kits, that should work reliably.
