I’ve got a voice and piano arrangement of an old standard. In one place I selected several measures of the voice part and copied it to the piano part. But it’s got three verses of lyrics under it and that all came across, too, so I had to delete the lyrics from the piano part. Not a huge chore, but I figure surely there’s a way to copy music without lyrics? I just haven’t figured out what it is.
Thanks.
There are a couple of ways to do this. If you just want to copy notes (no dynamics or anything else), then select the measures in question, and filter for Notes and Chords before copying.
If you want to copy everything except lyrics, then select the measures in question. In the Filter menu, select Deselect Only, then go back into the filter menu and select Lyrics > All Lyrics. This will remove lyrics from your selection and leave everything else in the measures selected.

Aha. First time using filter meaningfully here. A powerful tool, I see.
The sequence you describe is critical. Select measures, filter, then do copy.
I didn’t try the second method but will do so later. I’m sure it works.
I would not have figured that out until I stumbled over it in the manual (not knowing quite what to look for). So I’m glad I asked.
Thanks very much for a clear and perfectly working answer!
