When I copy the midi data (notes) from one track to another midi track, the second track doesn’t play. The point of this is to have two different tracks play the same part. Is there something I’m missing?

Do you have the second track assigned to an instrument?
Yes, the midi on second track is used with a different syth.
Correct channel on the second track?
Do you have any continuous controllers (cc) in the midi that the new synth may react to in a different way? There’s all sorts that could cause it. What about routing?
Could you grab a couple of screenshots so we can have a better idea of what’s going on?

It looks like you have the midi synth track muted
Wickham_Sky is right.. you also have the synth track on midi channel 3, Is that the right channel for the instrument?
It was muted by mistake before the screen shot.

You should supply more information. More screenshots. Supply a screenshot of the inspector so we can see how yout routing is set up. Also a screenshot of the VST instrument if you were using one, and/or the audio connections screen if you are using hardware.

Monitoring - the speaker icon? Same setting on both tracks?
If you use an instrument that differentiates between midi channels (an MPE instrument, or a multi-timbral instrument) then channel 3 might not trigger any sound creation within that instrument.

Well I was able to copy a midi file when using a internal Instrument track, but not with an external multi track Instrument. I use a Roland FA08 as a controller and as a multi track syth.
Could the problem be that Im using the FA08 as a keyboard controller and multi track syth?
