Correcting Errors During Entry

This seems like a small thing, but it adds up to a lot of keystrokes and time when creating a piece.

1. If I enter the wrong note, I can used Alt+cursor to move it up or down and right or left.

2. If I need to add a sharp, flat, or natural sign, or if I need to change the duration, I have to exit note-entry mode, fix the mistake, and then go back to note entry.

Is there a faster way for #2?

shift-alt-arrow will do both. up/down will re-pitch by a semitone. left/right will change duration by the current rhythmic grid (and if you have set short cuts for setting the grid you can use these to change how much the duration will be changed by)… all without leaving note entry.

Nice, thanks! I will try that right now.

Update: Works great!

in addition to the previous tips, setting custom key commands is a huge ergonomic time saver. i just finished entering a full orch/chorus 12 flows. using only my laptop keyboard. enharmonic flipping of accidentals is big as is octave up and down. the decisions made by the Dorico team allow for very quick one or two handed entry without leaving the note entry window
