Corrupted session files?

Hello everyone,

Relatively new Cubase user here. I’m running Cubase 12 on an Intel iMac.
I’ve been running into some issues recently, where my cubase session skyrocket in terms of size, from one save as to another (without adding extra audio files/plugins etc). Lately I’ve had sessions up to 1go in size, and I’m really not sure what’s causing it. They are usually mostly vsts (Kontakt, Omnisphere, Diva etc), and some audio files, but nothing huge. It’d take me 20-30mins to reopen the session, and when I do successful open it, sometimes a save as fixes it, and brings it to a normal size session (100-200mb).

I read in some other posts that Kontakt could be the culprit, and could corrupt the session? I wonder if anyone has similar issues/solutions to this problem.

Thanks everyone!

Hi,

Lately, I saw these reports linked with Kontakt.

Yep - multiple kontakt 7s causes massive file sizes for some reason - I don’t think most who own it know it is a multitimbral player

I’m only using Kontakt 6, not 7. Lately I’ve seen some sessions go up to 5GB, only using under 20 Kontakts instances, and some synth vsts/audio tracks. In the past, after a few save as, the session goes back to a somewhat “normal” file size, but this time it’s not doing it. Any clues?
