Couple of general audio recording questions

Hi,

I’m a seasoned Cubase user, but mainly with MIDI stuff. I’m trying to get back into a bit of audio guitar recording.

I noticed that my recordings tend to be slightly ahead of the beat, and I don’t think it’s me… is there any way to definitively check if there is a problem that requires the ‘Record Shift’ value in VST system to be adjusted. I’ve tried just recording quarter notes right on the beat and checking the audio image, but obviously this is inexact!

Secondly, should I always record with ‘Constrain Delay Compensation’ active? Is this related to the above question?

This is with 10.5 Pro BTW.

Many thanks,
James
