in the mixer I have some use of plugins like EW Spaces Lexicon Reverb …
my .cpr file is getting a size up to 292 MB right now. is this normal ?
loading, saving and even just closing takes extremely long.

Yep. Even if you disable tracks the cpr is still big. My base template is around 169Mb but increases once I put data in…
Yes, I only recently realised how big the cprs can get, even disabled. Some instruments are much bigger offenders than others - for example, I had a bunch of NI Action Strikes all disabled. Getting rid of those reduced my cpr by a third.
