CPU Overload/ Audio Dropout detected, Cubase 13 pro

Howdy, Another new guy here. I don’t recall having this issue in Pro 12, but since the upgrade to 13 pro, My Peak meter is Punching to overload like crazy. I can start with a simple recording template for my drums,…and before I even arm anything, Bang,…It’s Peaked and overloaded. The Real time,The Asio Guard and the Disk are sitting quiet, but the Peak just keeps slapping the cap. I’ve been lucky where the recording hasnt stopped after the peak meter popped, But that’s not always the case. I’ve been reading through the topics and i see different variations on this similar issue. I do hate asking for help, but this seems to be a problem I may need some step by step instruction on,…If it’s even fixable? Again,…new guy here,…Doesnt know how to grab a snapshot or find his dump file,…So,…Yeah,…new guy.

OK,…Thank you!!

I can’t help with the problem as Cubase is running just fine, for me.
But…
From your sig I’m assuming Windows.
Tell people what steps you’ve taken so far.
It’s not necessarily Cubase that’s at fault, it could be a dodgy Windows update, ASIO driver problem, etc. The Task Manager can help there.
And then there’s LatencyMon: Resplendence Software - LatencyMon: suitability checker for real-time audio and other tasks
.

Hi, I had the same problem but it’s not a problem with Cubase. Are you using an Nvidea video card?. Do you have a driver updating program, if so uninstall the video card drivers and restart the machine, then re-install the drivers. Don’t rely on windows updater because it didn’t work for me. I have a program called Driver Booster and it installed a new set of drivers, also there is a driver updater in Ccleaner Pro if you have that . I updated the video driver and so far I’ve had no problem. I Hope this helps

Hello,…I’m sooo sorry not to have gotten back to you or anyone else… I wound up having a heart attack towards the end of Feb, and I’m just getting back in the saddle again. Thank you for the suggestions, I’ll gather all this info and start hacking away at it all. Thanks again!

Howdy bouncingbilly, I am so very sorry not to have gotten back to you. As it turns out I wound up having a heart attack in late Feb. and I’m just now getting back into the mix, (so to speak). Ive been reviewing what i had done before i got laid up, and I see i installed the home version of Latency Mon. so I’ll run that. To answer your question, I do have a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 Super card. The only driver updating I have are the routind Windows updates. But thats all. For all of my hardware, Focusrite, or software like Izotope, Steinberg, Waves,…all that, I rely on the notifications I might get if they tell me a new driver or update is available. So I should look to get Driver Booster? So what does this do exactly? Should i use this in conjunction with the Ccleaner Pro (Which i diont have yet either)
I ran the Latency Mon program and it looks like a whole bunch of issues i have to tackle. This is going to be fun…NOT. Should I try to go to Nvidias site to check for a manual download of an update there?, or just look at getting Driver Booster first? The dropouts and glitches are through the roof at this point. I wont be able to track anything else till I get this resolved. Thanks for your time. Again, sorry for not getting back, but Anyone who’s willing to help has my full attention now, (or until i drop dead;)) Thx.

That’s scary. Wishing you well. :metal: :+1:

Thanks, I appreciate it.

I’m sorry to hear that, I hope you recover completely. Can I ask are you on windows or a mac ?. Ccleaner gives you a professional trial period so it’s worth a try and Driver Booster will only update drivers while Ccleaner does a lot more, so it’s either or, you don’t need both, but try Ccleaner trial first. If you go to the Nvidea website they have the choice of a studio driver or gaming driver, a lot of systems automatically load the gaming driver so try loading the studio driver as a first stop. Also if you are on a windows system just check your onedrive older, I found that Cubase was saving to my onedrive folder at the same time as the song folder for some reason, I never got to the bottom of why it did that , but after removing all the files from the onedrive folder I uninstalled it as well as any mention of it on my system. After uninstalling it I ran Ccleaner and there is a function that will clean the registry of any old files that windows leaves behind, and I have had no problems since. I hope this helps. To take a screenshot (if you are in windows) different computer manufacturers use different keystrokes. Try pressing the prtscrn button on your keyboard and then open the paint program and press ctrl V and it will paste the page , if that doesn’t work try ctrl and prtscrn or alt and prtscrn, one of the 3 will work. Good luck and let me know how you got on.

Thank you Bouncingbilly, after replying to ylu and someone else yesterday, I went to the Nvidia site and downloaded the Studio version of my video card (for win 10) and in my classic luck, it appears to have crashed my computer,…black screens. So I started in safe mode, went to an earlier restore point earlier in the day, got it running again to find it doesn’t see my Steinberg licenses for cube 12, pro or 13 pro,. The product portal has all the downloaded content, but it keeps saying no activated licenses found, and when I put in my already fully activated codes, it says “already in use by another user” …so I have an e mail request for service at Steimbetg support. Can’t go much farther till I clean all that up. But thank you, ill try your suggestions as soon as I’m up and running again. Im hating windows anymore!!
