Crash/can't normally work

Hi.
After updating to 9.5.30 my life is harder than before
I’m on Mac 10.10.5

Cubase many times crash when I try to save a project.
I’m bulding great composition. I’m thinking - Yes, this is it…I’m clicking SAVE and everything dissapear.

Sometimes Cubase hangs when I explore MediaBay. I open MediaBay. Hit DOWN ARROW on my keyboard to listen next and next samples…
Sometimes on some audio files Cubase hangs. Standard WAV files. Cubase not dissapear like when I click save button. I must forced closed Cubase.
The same samples works great when I try to hear them on any player. Sometimes problematic sample works without problem in MediaBay too )

But the main problem is saving a project. I really don’t know when it will hang. I’m trying with different names but it’s no sense.
I want to work like in earlier versions of C 9.5.
What can I do?

Many thanks
Jarek

Hi,

First make sure your plug-ins are up to date.

Share the *. Crash file here, please. You can find it in the macOS utility Console.

Hi All

I have also just installed the upgrade to 9.5.30 and it is not as stable as 9.5.10 has been on my Mac 10.11.6.
I am now getting random crashes… while working all of a sudden everything disappears … nothing except the report to Apple screen and I’ve not had something like this for years!

It just crashed while starting too. Something’s up, just noting it here in case there is a common bug here somewhere.

Next time I’ll share the crash dump, can someone remind me where to get that?

Alan

Hi,

As I wrote in the last comment: share the *.crash file here, please. You can find it in the macOS utility Console.

This was the crash from opening Cubase
Cubase 9.5_2018-09-08-185710_Alans-Mac-Pro.crash (88.8 KB)

Hi,

Thank you. Reported to Steinberg (CAN-17728).

Hi,

As Martin said, try to check if your plugins are up to date. I had the same issue with cubase 9.5.30. So I tested every plugin and I noticed that it was halion sonic se and groove agent se which make cubase crashed. Since I update them, I can work without any crash or freeze.
Thank you very much Martin.

I’m sending few of my crash files.
What do You think?
Many thanks

Again crash.
What I do?
I make a music for a film.
I move an audio file from mediabay to timeline.
Cubase hangs.
I kill program. I don’t have any crash report.
In the consol I don’t have any crash report.

What do You think?

Hi,

Just for record, Cubase 9.5 is not officially compatible with Mac OS X 10.10.

Reported to Steinberg (CAN-17729).

Hi,

I see the same crashes already reported in the Steinberg issue database. Please try to reset Cubase preferences. This should solve the issue.

I did it (reset preferences from here :https://www.steinberg.net/en/support/knowledgebase_new/show_details/kb_show/safe-start-mode-resetting-the-cubase-preferences.html) but Cubase still crashes during saving a project.
Of course not every time. But most of time :frowning:(

What I did:
I had a project with midi, audio and video tracks.
I recorded midi track.
I pressed CTRL+S and Cubase started to hang.
No crash report.

Do You have any other suggestions?

Many thanks

Last version of NI Kontakt.
I’m trying to load some instrument.
I’m loading an instrument from Kontakt browser into empty slot.
Cubase hangs.
No crash report.
Why everything work in 9.5.21?
I have a lot project in 9.5.30 so I can’t back to 9.5.21.
Any chance for resolving these problems?
Any chance for stable work in the next update? Do You plan any update?
Regards
Jarek

Hi,

Make sure you have the latest NI Kontakt version installed. In this case, I would probably get in touch with NI.

Please, add some (at least basic) info about your system to the sign.

Hi.
I’m sending my last crash reports. I will not send more reports. I know that it’s boring )

Would You like to look there?
Because it’s really hard to work maybe is any possibility to resolve it?

Many thanks for any help

Hi,

These are still exactly the same crashes you had in the past, and I commented 10 Sep 2018 12:03 already. I reported them to Steinberg (CAN-17729). As I said, be aware Cubase 9.5 is not officially compatible with macOS 10.10.

Hi nilbul,

Could you share the project and your Preferences folder, please?
