Crash freeze crash freeze

I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing random crashes and freezes with Cubase 14. Like many others, I upgraded from Pro 13 when 14 was announced. My initial thoughts? I noticed VST2 support is disabled by default. Fine, I turned it back on. But then I started encountering crashes. I figured it might be an issue with a particular VST2 plugin, but after that, the program wouldn’t even start again until I rebooted my PC—it just froze every time.

I rebooted the PC ,reset everything to factory defaults on cubase startup, and it worked again. But as soon as I tried something simple, like creating a new project or loading a MIDI file for reference, it crashed or froze again. Now I’m completely stumped.

One thing I’ve noticed is that Steinberg’s ASIO driver maxes out my audio input monitor immediately. If I switch to a different audio driver, the issue seems to go away. It feels like there are still some significant bugs in the system.

so it seems obvious to me. Steinberg’s Asio driver is causing you a problem. Why don’t you use your soundcards ASIO driver?

I have tried this, Ive tried changing it once cubase is open and it still crashes, I then uninstall the new asio driver from con panel and it just re-installs when i try and boot up cubase again

don’t uninstall it. just pick the other asio driver from Studio setup

I tried that before I uninstalled it, Booted it up as factory default after rebooting the pc and it booted, but the audio input was spiking, Changed the asio driver and the audio spikes stopped, Than after a while various things would again cause it to freeze and the only way to get it to restart is by rebooting the pc again, Ive done everything i can think of that seems obvious
