I am sick and tired of Cubase 15 freezing up for no reason, and then being unable to restart it.
Example being, I open Cubase 15, (latest patch) , it freezes at the recent project page, I kill it in task manager, then I have to manually kill Steinberg Mediabay and Steinberg Plugin exe’s , and it STILL will not reopen. It hangs at Initializing all midi inputs everytime.
The only way I can reopen Cubase, is to restart the PC. This is really bizarre behaviour. Is there a list of processes I need to kill before it will restart normally ?

I think my love of Cubase has overshadowed it’s (literal) hangups.

I think you are asking the wrong question. There must be something else responsible for Cubase behaving like this. The best way to get to the bottom of it is information. Starting with OS, exact Cubase version, system info like CPU, GPU (and driver), RAM and also when these crashes exactly occur. And of course dump files we can look into.

It’s a freeze dump, Cubase loads as far as the recently opened projects page, and then that’s it. Sometimes it randomly hangs while being used. I thought it was third party plugins doing it, but no, because it wouldn’t hang at the hub.
Killing Cubase process in task manager and two other processes isn’t enough as it won’t reopen. If I reboot the PC it opens fine and I can use it fine.
This is in the last but one update, its started acting this way. I’ve trashed preferences, doesn’t matter. Removed all third party plugins and opened it, it sometimes hangs.
When you open Cubase, how many other processes are opened along with Cubase.exe ? If knew what to kill, I could do that rather than reboot.
Like I said, it works fine after the reboot. And it doesnt’ always hang on loading. its totally random. I was hoping this latest maintenance update would fix it, apparently not.

Oops my bad, edited it with the extended dump info.
The issue seems to be somewhere in using the new Midi Stack. @Psychlist1972 probably knows what to do here.
