Crash Nightmare

there is an email address if you read the thread

Sorry dr,
i’m completely unknown in “communities”
(but not in computers:-))
What do you mean with “there is an email address…” and what is a “thread”??
(i’m german and my english isn’t complete)

Dvance

Hello dr,
i send you 2 crashdumps per mail.

not me, but cool - no guarantee of a reply of course

Ah - ohhh…!!!
I send the files, without any explaines…
I thought this is your second account… (laughing)
Better i write som words to explaine…

I have this same problem - every time I try to go to the Manager page to get the HD files, Cubase crashes.

a fix/improvement for this has been promised - possibly released next week - here’s hoping

I hope so! It was working pretty well during my demo period, but as soon as I bought it, it seemed to stop working!

fwiw the fix is available to download

Hello dr,
Thank you for information!
Next Monday i will test the new version. I’m curious how they realized the “sharing Cubase screen”.
But i saw there is a “field” with the time information from cubase!
Thanks to michael spork and the team from VST connect for this new update!

sorry, this update does not yet feature screen sharing, planned for later release.

Hello to Michael Spork, musicullum…
thank you for the hotfix of VST Connect 4.0.45!
But… i’m a little confused now…
Ok, i don’t try another session with my performer and this version until yet!
But when i start Cubase, open my project with the last session and open VST Connect Pro and swith to the tab “Manager”, Cubase crash again!!!
For a short moment i can see the old files, we do on our last session before crash.
(the performer is not connected at this time when i try that!)
I try to make a screenshot for you, but the crash comes to fast and the screen will be blank.

My question in one of the posts here was, “can i reset this listing of data?”
I think they are not exist anywhere…
Or VST Connect can do a good job here, when the performer is connected?

Ok, maybe VST Connect has no bug anymore in this case, in “Get HD Files”…
But i have no idea, if i can fix this problem!
I want to start a new session with the performer at next Monday 31.08. and then i try to switch to tab “Manager” and then i will see…

Has anyone of you an idea, what happens in my case?
Any idea i want to try!

But i’m sure, you’ve done a great job!
VST Connect is a good tool for realize our music without contact in this hard Covid19 period!
Thanks again for any of your work in this time!
Greetings DVance

Dear all, what a great thread. Everybody has been keeping their cool and everybody seems to really be working hard to find a solution. Unlike other posts which often end in pointless acusations this one is avperfect case of professionals trying to get to the bottom of things.

Here is the bad news: I have exactly the same issues. I thought first to write my own post but I found this one and all symptoms were described spot-on.

Even after updating to the latest .45 version and the latest vst performer version: Just looking at the “manager” tab makes cubase crash. In my case I am pretty desperate as I have some sessions coming up and I very much rely on VST connect. If I can contribute to the solution: please let me know.

Probably more details needed.
Mac/PC ?
do you have crash dumps ?

Ok. Here i put in some of my equip

At 14, Juli, when i use VST Connect Pro 4.0.44, i’d open a Ticket with this problem on Steinberg Support → #310330
Here i described my software and i added some crashdump files.
Nearby, until version 4.0.42 i had no crash, when switch to tab “Manager”.
Is this helpfully?

I use following Hard/Software:
DELL Aurora R4 with Windows 10 Pro 64x Version 2004 Build 19041.450
Intel Core i7-4960X 3.6GHz / 32GB RAM / 256GB SSD / 2x1TB SATA HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
Cubase Pro 10.5.20 (latest)
VST Connect Pro 4.0.45 (latest)

@peakload:
Thanks for your post.
I’ll hope we get a solution!
I’m german and i wonder, why this problem hasn’t posted in the german forum until yet.
Found it only in english forum.

If you want, we can try to do a test session together.
We have both VST Connect Pro and Performer, so we can try a session in both ways
Only for testing the VST soft…
My account is also “dvance”, maybe you can find this in “find user”…

In light of this and to get you through your sessions, maybe you could ‘downgrade’ to a previous version (uninstall completely first, then install earlier, working version).?

But before you do that, as @dr says grabbing a ‘crash dump’ file and attaching here would be useful… (can’t remember off the top of my head, but there will be other posts around explaining how to get that dump file).

Anyway, agreed - good thread, and good luck to you.!

There are two folder, where i found crashdumps!
One is in C:\Users\DVance\AppData\Local\CrashDumps
“Cubase10.5.exe.5872.dmp”
This last one is 137MB large!
As zip it is 47MB

I try to attache the latest crashdump as zip here, but the file is too large!

The second folder is in D:\Users\DVance\Documents\Steinberg\CrashDumps
Here is the last one 0,8MB
I add it here…
Cubase 10.5.20.179 64bit 2020.8.28 21.09.18.754.dmp (824 KB)

Thanks. In my case, there is neither a recent crashdump filein both folders from the recent crashes. There a two older ones though…

you can send crashdumps etc to m.spork (at) steinberg.de, pls add a short description of what you did, thanks.
