SpectraLayers Pro 11.0.50 Standalone, Win 11 Pro 23H2.
Hello @Robin_Lobel, I experienced several crashes while editing a file. The file was stereo, but for better editing purposes I soloed to just one channel, so that only this channel was shown. Edits were done just with the eraser tool.
I did some tests with a short 5 second long file (with several channel reformats) and found within Windows Task Manager, that the memory usage for SpectraLayers is quickly building up under the following conditions:
- A file with at least 2 channels is loaded.
- Any channel is either just set to Mute or set to Solo in the Channels panel. (Clarification - when setting all channels to Solo it works fine, and you cannot set all channels to Mute, therefore working with mono files is fine)
- Any of the editing/brush tool is selected (Eraser, Amplifier, Transfer, Copy Stamp, Frequency Repair, Frequency Pencil, Transient Pencil, Noise Spray)
As soon as these conditions are met and you just hover the mouse cursor over the spectrogram (you don’t even have to actually apply the tool), the memory usage is rising rapidly. The application of any Module (like Gain) will also raise the memory usage, although with lesser impact.
Furthermore, I found that doing any the following will flush the build up excessive memory (but usage may rise again if you repeat the above procedure):
- Change Mute or Solo state of any channel.
- Enable or disable Composite Layers View.
- Change Mute state of any layer while not in Composite Layers View.
- Change any setting for FFT Size, FFT Window or Resolution in the Display panel.
