I must be hallucinating. I am sure I have added drumset cues to other players’ parts before. An arrancement starts with 2 beats of triplets on the toms and I want to show this to all the players who come in on 3.
When I bring up the cue popover and type “d” (for drumset), no instrument names pop up. I don’t recall having to do anything tricky in the past to make this happen.
It works if I enter “f” (for floor tom). In other words, you can’t cue the whole drumset, but you can cue a kit piece. I didn’t recall it working this way before, but maybe my memory is faulty.
Is there some way to see the names of all the available instruments? It seems like I have to know the first letter at minimum.

Yes, there is: you can generate/visualise a list of playing instrument in a specific range, using the Cues panel.

Thank you for that. I am aware of that panel. I’m sure it is very useful for somebody working on a symphony orchestra score. In my case, I needed a cue on the very first beat of the song, and the players needing that cue play on the third beat. They need the cue, not to wake up after a long naap, but in order to play their notes in time. The panel has a minimum rest time of 5 seconds. In this case, those players are “resting” about 8/10 of a second.
It seems like there ought to be a way to display the “donor” instruments from within the popover. If I open the popover at the first beat of the music and type an “a”, then I see the alto sax instruments listed. It seems logical that one should see the full list of available instruments if they don’t type in any characters. Or alternatively, allow me to type “*” to see all the instruments.
If I type in “d” looking for drumps, I see nothing. If I am clever enerough to be thinking kit pieces, then typing “t” gets the trombones, tenors, trumpets and tom-toms. But I am not that clever. (I will be for the next week or two, but then I’ll probably forget.)
