I wouldn’t edit the ‘factory’ XML file. First of all, it will get restored every time there’s an update, or if you reinstall. Secondly, on a Mac, the OS can refuse to launch a signed application that has been modified.
Dorico started without problems. – I am aware of your concerns. It is only about deleting the superfluous entries. I will enter my personal indications in the additions-file , and I will make backups of all those files.
Honestly for me it was because I can never remember the correct diacritical marks for Bembé, Afoxê, Baião, etc. The popover works for anything in the right panel, so having these additional tempos pre-populated so they come up correctly is an advantage for me.

Hi Janus. YES I think there is a good reason! While you certainly make adhoc amendments to a tempo, then copy & paste it again (as many times as needed), it is so much easier to create the desired custom tempo entry for the side panel, and just select it from the panel wherever desired. ie a permanet, rather than a temporary solution.
Is there possibly any way to specify another beat unit for the tempo. The amount-value refers by default to quavers but say if I want to indicate the tempo of dotted quavers instead. Is there maybe an element available for that can define that?
Shift+T “e.=66”

That would indeed fix it in the time signature popover but I would like to be able to also define such a signature as a TempoPresetDefinition in the DefaultLibraryAdditions folder.
