Create Instrument Alts without new player?

I’m wondering if there is a way to create an alternative part for a different instrument that matches another part. For example, I am writing for 6 horns with a Bari Sax, but I want to be able to print out an exact copy of the Bari Sax part but as an opt. Bass Trombone part, but I don’t want to add another player, I only want to enter notes into the Bari Sax part.

Yes. Create a new layout, rename it “Bass Trombone” (by double-clicking it in the right panel of Setup mode). Then assign the Bari Sax player to it. Then right-click and use the Clef and Transposition Overrides dialog to transpose its contents (further details here: Clef and Transposition Overrides dialog)
