Create "marching books" - Finale user

Good day.

I worked in Finale. I run a brass band. I need to create “marching books” in a format of approx. 12x15 cm. There are 25 songs in the book. On some pages there are two songs. I have no idea how to go about it after switching from Finale. I don’t know if I should use the “Flows” option? Could someone tell me step by step how to go about it? I would like to be able to set systems per page, bars in the system, staff size…

You can do all this, yes. That’s the short answer.

And yes, use flows.

Page size and staff size are found in Layout Options>Page Setup.

In Layout Options>Staves and Systems you can set casting off.

Can I set separate staff dimensions, system sizes, system distances for each “flow”? Even if they are on the same page?

Staff dimensions, yes. Set a system break at the start of a flow, and select that signpost to change the staff size starting there.

System sizes: can you explain?

System distances: Manually very easily. Default spaces are set for the entire layout, but manual adjustment is easy.

Yes, you can change the staff size at any system break. This can be done at the start of a flow (without having to add a manual break) and applies only for that flow.

How do I set up a new “flow” to be on the same page? In one project I need it to start on the same page, and sometimes on the next page.

Layout Options>Page Setup>Flows.

Thank you. Is it possible that when I change instruments (shift+alt+]) the view of voices would be the same. So that the zoom would change. For example - I changed the view size in the trumpet voice to 200%, then I switch to the clarinet view and I would like it to be 200% and not the previous view, e.g. 150%.

Sorry, I think I accidentally deleted your reply.

Sorry for the mistake. I posted about the default zoom preference setting before trying it out myself. I found (as you must also have) that once you’ve viewed layouts, Dorico remembers their last zoom.

Exactly. I’d like it to apply the zoom to the current instrument.
