Is there a way to create mute automation for an exact selection? Attached Screenshot.
I don’t use Cubase but if I was going to do it I would place the playback head / cursor in that range, enable automation write on the track, open the automation panel and set it to “Touch” and fill to “Loop”. Then press play, press mute, stop play.
I will say however that I’ve never ever liked mute automation. To me it has always been much better to cut sections of events on the timeline and simply mute the events. That way you get control over the rate of mute (i.e. fade-in/out) and you get to see really easily and quickly where and what you have muted on the timeline. With the mute automation lane hidden you won’t see anything unless you are right on top of the muted area.
Just my two cents.
Hi,
I’m not with Cubase at this moment, but… Isn’t there Fill Range option Automation Panel?
This is a function I’m more interested in for FX tracks. Muting reverbs/delays so they don’t carry over in to other “scenes.” For events I would agree that muting the individual events is a better workflow.
Is there a way to do this more easily in Nuendo? I’m planning to grab it the next time it’s on sale.
If I was going to use the mute function of the track I would do it the same way in Nuendo except I would use the “Preview” function. But it makes little difference.
What I would do for FX tracks - and have done - is to just automate level to minus infinity instead of mute. Since FX tracks by default show an automation level line that seems appropriate to me. The procedure would be the same and I would just adjust the level (fader) instead of pressing mute.
Gotcha, this seems to make the most sense for Cubendo. Thanks!
I tried automating mute in the past and things got weird. Level automation moving forward for me.
