I am playing a Trumpet part in our orchestra that was written in alleatoric style with with, in places, no barlines and unmeasured music. How do I create that in Dorico 6.2, I am trying to make it easier to read for the original is in manuscript. I need to have invisible barlines and ways to extend a sequence with arrows. Any help would be appreciated, especially in hiding the barlines.
Can you show us an image to help us see what you wish to simulate?
sure, give me a sec
Well, With the help of AI, I figured it out.
Hi! I wonder how you did create that acciaccatura look (the little oblique bar on the stem). Can you explain? All the other things seem quite straightforward in Dorico.
I’m still working on that one. I’ll let you know when I figure it out. May have to cheat and put it on my iPad and draw it in…
Ok, I am a newbie to Dorico (30 plus years on Finale). How do you get to that Notehead screen?
Here’s a file. If you open it, then Library->Notehead Sets. With the Notehead with slash on stem selected in the left panel, click the star icon at the lower left. Reload your own document, and you should find it by right-clicking as in the last image. You can edit the notehead set to suit your needs.

And you need this font: I actually think @naomi’s version without the need for a special font is better.

I see that in your picture, but when I go there on my system, those choices rebnot available.
Did you follow my instructions? First, open my file, then open Library->Notehead Sets. Then click the star icon with Notehead with slash on stem selected to save it as default. Finally, open your own file. You have to reload your own file.

Can’t seem to download the file. I will try again.
For whatever reason the slashes on stems didn’t show up on my machine (missing fonts I think) so I created an alternative one that may work better for some people.

Ah, I remember now, you need a small font with the two slashes for it to work.
Thanks @naomi
