You can get some nice ‘workstation’ style layered patches using Halion Sonic SE on an instrument track with all programs set to receive on channel 1.

Holy poop that sounds sexy. Pure oldskool, like the old ravey/house sounds from the early 90’s. Totally digging that.

It’s great to have the classic General Midi sounds available - many people grew to hate them but if you want a 90s sound they are authentic
