In Finale I worked on a score until I got it to look the way I wanted, then duplicated the doc, and deleted the music to create a template, saving all the settings. Is there a way to clear all the edits to a Dorico file, so it’s clean to make a template? Or is there a way to set it up that when you save, you can’t Undo past Save?
When doing so, did you save them as Finale Templates (.ftmx)? Or did you keep those blank .musx files as templates? (I ask mainly out of curiosity ).
In Dorico you can save a file as a project template by choosing File>Save as Project Template:
Leaving Preserve existing flows unchecked will save your file as a template without the content. So no need to manually delete the music. You can then start a new project from your template by choosing File>New From Project Template.
If however you want to preserve certain aspects (e.g. if you want to save a template that has multiple flows setup, of if you want to preserve custom bracketing in the template), then you do need Preserve existing flows checked but that will preserve everything in the flow(s). So in that case you will need to delete the music etc. first before saving as a template. See the link below for more info:
Thanks. That helps.
Since I’m a very long time user of Finale, I started my template files long before there was an option to create a Template file.
