Creating controllers from audio amplitude

I want a controller stream that reads the audio amplitude and produce either a midi CC track or an automation lane

Any ideas?

I saw someone doing that using FL Studio on an instagram reel. It was nifty.

I think you’d have to use shaperbox to get a similar effect in Cubase

Cheers
I was looking for solid info…eg examples or actual knowledge of a specific plug but thanks anyway

Shaperbox

I had a look at it…its good for sound design within the plug but is much like byome. It does have an envelope follower for elements within…as in the OP…Im after native manipulation of specifically and automation lane that I can adapt to either clip gain or input gain. I have vocal rider but it relies on manipulating the plug. Its much easier when automation for stuff like this doesnt need a plug. I want a fast way of capturing the amplitude>cc stream, then using logical editor to bake threshold and compression (on the automation curve) for broad follows so the compressor is not being thrashed.
Its not an effect that Im after…its mixing bread and butter that must apply to the native automation. HTH

Since you have Vocal Rider, and it can actually write its moves to automation (which can then be edited if you like), I wonder if being able to take its generated automation, then assign it to some other controller might be a way to go? Assuming it works at all (I haven’t tried it), it wouldn’t be as convenient as being able to do it directly, but maybe there would be some way to use the logical editor to at least make it a one-additional-step thing once the initial Vocal Rider automation is generated?

Yeah i have already tried that buts quite fiddly and just trying to a basic envelope…would be easier to do it manually. Would be way easier with an absolute cc scale and the apply in logical editor with preset parameters. I always record vox around -18 so i need something that works with, straight up
Its about workflow and speed…that why great art is almost spontaneous
