Hello,

Select the two playing techniques, right-click→Playing techniques→Group playing techniques.
Jesper
thank you jesper ! I’ll take that. I think this was what you showed me long ago..
if I wanted to build a little “library” with all these ord>sp ord>st sp>ord etc etc.. how do I do that ? or no one does that ? since it’s so simple to group ?
jjj
Sadly … you don’t …
Even as powerful as lines currently are, the fact that one cannot insert them via a popover and thus a search bar makes them very slow. As soon as the number of lines increases you will spend your days scrolling up and down a list which is not too logically ordered (it seems). Then SVG-based lines will get lost against the dark background and it is not possible to have a line that has both an arrow end cap and a symbol.
For now Playing Techniques are the way.
ok, I hear you.
/joakim
Well, it is, but probably too much work
Jesper
A repeatable symbols line. (SP is a repeatable object added to the start, and >ORD) is one added to the end.
Jesper
sp-ord.dorico (543.1 KB)
Solid line with music symbol caps.
Or, you could use a regular solid line with music symbols start and end caps.
Jesper
These really should be playing techniques, though, and not generic lines, so the premise that it should be possible to create a library of such lines is wrong-headed.
You can quickly create grouped playing techniques via the Shift+P popover as described in this thread, and you can always set up macros (either directly in Dorico or using third-party software) if you simply must have a quicker way of creating a group of playing techniques than typing via the popover.
Agreed, and you can easily copy/paste or alt-click the whole group.
Jesper
I actually did playing technics : (sp and another : ord) (with the half parenthesis) and then grouped them. with a shortcut cmd-alt-g
perhaps there could be difficulties if someone one day wanted a dashed line instead of solid… ?
/jjj
how did you put the texts at start and end ? I only find this list of arrowheads etc
I think we all need the SP→ORD all the time! [I do, anyway.] Some very good assistance here.
You can specify what kind of line should be used in Library > Playing Techniques.
aha. ‘but’ then that line is bound to that playing technique.. (?)
still good.. thank you /j
I do something wrong, if I choose continuation line dashed on the twe playing techniques I still have a solid line when I group them.
I’m so slow sorry.. help ?
found it.
why these “long” and “short” choices ?
I put long and it wasn’t dashed until it was longer. short it was solid. is this a wanted functionality ?
sincerely,
j
You can always change them in the properties panel in Engrave mode.
Jesper
Or change the transition line in the editor
of course ! that’s also an option !
good !
/jj
You still need an answer to this?
Jesper
yes please. just to know..! jjj
