Cubase 10.0.60 crashes during zooming

We’ve Cubase 10.0.60 on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6, zooming into the tracks with ‘H’ key (zoom in) results freeze and then crash of Cubase.

We’ve lost many projects because of that. We need to zoom maximum in order to see the tracks and details of M&E tracks of our project for synch. all the records.

Any idea would be much appreciated. Configuration of our MACs:

iMac Retina 4K 21.5-inch, Late 2015
3,1 Ghz Intel Core i5
8 GB 1867 DDR3 Ram
512 GB SSD Drive
Intel Iris Pro 6200 1536 MB GPU

This is urgent.
We look forward to hearing back from you,
Many thanks in advance.

P.S: The MacOS is newly formatted, nothing installed on it except Cubase. Nothing working background heavily.

Hi,

Could you attach a *.crash file, please?
Mac: macOS Console utility > User Reports folder or Crash Reports in macOS 10.15 (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).

There is no any file with .crash extension, actually it freezes and rainbow mouse icon gets rotated and rotated… Till I kill the Cubase process.
We have 3 different iMac computers, and all have the same issue.

Hi,

OK, is there at least *.hang file created by any chance?

Hi Martin.Jirsak,

I attached an image of my 60 tracks of audio which my iMacPro (2017, 128 GB Ram, 14 cores) freezes when I switch from my mixer to my project window. It happened 5 or 6 times tonight.

I"m not actually changing the zoom but switch from the mixer view to the Project view in a one monitor system only (retina 27" 5K Apple iMac display).
I did change zoom earlier without freezing.

But changing focus from mixer to project window and them moving the window a tiny bit to see the top 2 or bottom 2 tracks it freezes…

SO where are those crash files you mentioned found?

*.hang
or
.crash

on an Apple Hard Drive that has all the system and software on it (not a data drive, of course)…
I’m running the actual project and it’s audio off a Pegasus3 R8 Raid drive (8 six TB hard drives in a Raid 5 config) and having no issues till this for the first time.
Final Cut Pro runs fine which is where I mostly work.

Hi,

Mac: macOS Console utility > User Reports folder or Crash Reports in macOS 10.15 (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).

Mac: macOS Console utility > User Reports folder or Crash Reports in macOS 10.15 (or ~user/Library/Logs/Diagnostic Reports).

Thanks Martin,

I couldn’t find anything that had recent dates for when I crashed, just a few older reports from months ago with another program.
In the area you mentioned but in the console I did see a folder named “System Report” and in there I used the search box entering ‘Cubase’.
I got a long list of things and scrolled down to Kernel_2020_08_28_000050_iMacPro2018s-Imac-Pro.gpuRestart and double clicked on that and got a window full of info and code stuff.

This looks like last night when I had another freeze/crash that I had to hit the power button to close down and again to boot back up to get back to work. (in Cubase)

But I think when the computer just freeZes it doesn’t have the ability to create a crash report as I couldn’t find any as mentioned above.

after the info that I just copied and pasted there were rows and rows of 8 columns going down the page of 8 bits per column then more stuff, them more rows of similar columns, etc till the very end with read

Hi,

I’m sorry, I can’t read anything from this.

Hello again,
Our problem still continues. Shortly; zooming into the tracks with ‘H’ key (zoom in) results freeze (rainbow icon circling around), it waits, waits, till we force quit Cubase. And of course, we lose the project.

We do lots of zoomings into the tracks, because to fix the synch. of tracks/musics.
Cubase 10.0.60 on MacOS High Sierra 10.13.6.

We look forward to hearing back from you,
Many thanks.

What would you suggest us? Updating Cubase, MacOS version or anything else?

Any idea please?
