Hi, I bought Cubase 10.5 a few years back but last week I had to factory re-set my laptop and now need to re-install Cubase. I sent a request ticket for a new download unlock code but the reply was those aren’t available anymore when switching computers. Well I’m not switching computers, I want to re-install on the same unit. Am I out of luck?
If Cubase pro then you have the licencer usb key. You then just need to run the latest licensing software. If it’s a soft licence then you are correct as the old licensing servers are now turned off.
I was about to say the same, but I’m putting on my pedantic cap and saying that Elements and Artist licences also could be on a dongle. (I bought 9.5 Elements for my son, the licence is still on the dongle I also bought for him.)
But yes, if the licence is a soft-licence, ie stored on a disk, you’re out of luck.
If you have one of the free versions, I think it’s possible to get an upgrade to version 15, via support.

Ok, in that case you should make sure your license is registered via the Steinberg Online profile. This registration is the base for the update to the latest Cubase 15 release.
After the purchase you will receive a Download Access Code for Cubase 15 and this going to be checked against your registered license. It has to be entered in the Download Assistant.
A reactivation of your current license is not possible anymore. Steinberg announced it 2022 that the licensing is going to change and deactivated the servers in May 2025.
