I was using Cubase 10.5 until 2024, but I lost my USB dongle while traveling. I haven’t been able to use Cubase since then, and Steinberg has also discontinued its USB licensing service.
The license for my 10.5 version is safe in my Steinberg account, and I am considering purchasing Cubase 15 (with a 40% discount). Since I don’t have the USB dongle, will I still need it to upgrade to Cubase 15? How exactly does this process work?

good news first. Since Cubase 10.5 is registered with your account you can easily purchase an update (sales are on right now) and just enter your Download Access Code. Afterwards, you can use Cubase 12 to 15.

No, the eLicenser service is down since May 2025, so there is no way of initializing a new USB dongle
