I accidentally made thing hard for myself. I decided to update Cubase 10 Pro to v15 last November 2025. But I could not get the RME Fireface UC to work with new version it would just disappear randomly. So I had to ask for refund and cancel the order. I got my money back and everything is good.
Fast forward today, I had a new sound card Focusrite Scarlett, and I thought I would like to buy the update again, so I can finally test the Cubase 15 out with my new Scarlett 4i4.
Turned out activation manager or download manager could just not see my eLicenser or Cubase 10 Pro licenses anymore. Even when I had them in account.steinberg I didn’t understand why couldn’t the software see my old licenses. I did not have any problems before.
Then I realized that when I updated the v10 to v15 last year, my old Cubase Pro 10 license was not being “reset” although I canceled my order and asked for refund. Now in my product page reads: "Cubase Pro 10 (Upgraded to Steinberg Licensing by Registration)
Whoops. Is there anything I can do? I already sent a support ticket. I hope I can still use my v10 license, because I did not finish the update process the last time.
EDIT: And yes, I’m hoping to get Cubase Pro 15 update to work. I don’t plan to use v10.
The Activation Manager will not see any licenses that were stored on the eLicenser previously. These are two different worlds.
All you need to do is to connect your USB eLicenser and Cubase 10 should simply run. The eLicenser servers are shutdown, but the USB dongle keeps working without them.
Just make sure the eLicenser Control Center is still installed.
I edited my post a bit. I realized that it seems I want to use v10. I don’t want to install it again, but get the new v15 up and running.
About the RME problems. No help in updating firmware, re-installs etc. I read that some users had same problems and it seems with certain RME cards like mine or UCX, user had problems when using RME/Ryzen/Cubase combo. Some user got his RME to work when changing USB socket, but I tried every single one and the result was same. RME could be recognized at start up, or it was not. It was too much a hassle, so I decided Cubase 15 was not good fit for me at that time. But now with new sound card, I’m not looking for a solution for that problem.
And RME was working perfectly in Studio One and Reaper btw.
The old Cubase 10 license is marked as “Upgraded to Steinberg Licensing” and therefore the new system doesn’t accept it for a second update. The problem is this upgrade mark has not been removed when you got your refund and that needs to be fixed. Otherwise you can’t get the update license to work.
In this case you really need help from support, because no one here can modify these license issues.
