Cubase 11 / Connecting Media freezing and cannot open the project made in 8.5…

there is no error message, just “connecting media” stops… but I will try to make a video of this…

So im quoting a private message I got from @robert1, this could be the temporal solution for this strange cases, I didn’t tried yet but maybe it works, however I think this is an issue that Steinberg should put attention.

I solved the problem…I made up a folder…and moved all the content of the folders (of the song): Audio-Edits-Images. Then I started the song-file(cpr-file), and of cause Cubase asked for a folder for the missing files …I pointed to the new folder…and the Cubase picked up the missing files…and when I now looked in the original folders of Audio-Edits-Images…it showed that only 1/4 of the files were necessary to play the song… … so for the future I will go to the POOL and get rid of unused files …empty the trash…save the file…and back-up the song with a new name… too many files in the folders seems to have been the problem…

Yes I should send it to Steinberg… but the problem is maybe that I’ve converted the wav-files to mp3 in old recordings…to save space… so I had to convert back again to open the cpr(CUBASE)-files. maybe the software notice this change-- and cant’t sort out what has happened…

I got round it like the above, changed folder names. But I also had to tell Cubase to ignore the edits folder. Finally open. A 10.5 project in 11. Exported stems of everything straight away after, to be safe.

Import Tracks from project could be another workaround
