I want to assign a key command to turn off the record button. What phrase do I look for in the key command section? Haven’t found something like “turn off record button”.
Use fewer words, like record, or type in the actual command which is show in in the tooltip.
Isn’t it R? Or have I been using it for so long by now that I just think it is the default…?
Yep. R has been the default for a couple decades
So I’ve had “R” assigned elsewhere for years. I want to know what verbiage to look for in the key commands. If I type “record” in the search bar it brings “up record in editor”. After I turn the record button on with the mouse, I want a key command to turn it off and not by using the mouse.

Edit/Key Commands. Here you´ll find it under Edit/Record enable.
Record Enable works both ways; it enables and disables. And now I finally get it: You were looking for something like Record Disable, right? Okay, that’s what the confusion was all about. And you are right - that’s not at all self -explanatory.
So, why did Steinberg name it like this in the first place? I guess it just sounds better than Densable Record
