You can Delete the Preferences within the Safe Start Mode dialog.

Okay, a random thing I just accidently mentioned is that Cubase 12 seems to dislike NativeInstrument-Keyboards… I guess it has sth. to with Komplete Control.
After setting up my M32 as “mini desktop, scetching-keyboard”, I mentioned that cubase keeps randomly crashing. Then…accidently unplugging the M32, cubase crashed again. - Not plugged in again since and cubase runs perfectly stable… just as it should.

Please ignore if it is a completely different issue!

Im on a Mac and this is ridiculous. Cubase switches tracks randomly while recording. It also has CPU spikes and all my tacks are audio (I render my midi tracks to audio after polishing them up). Also, the total sound will go out while the transport is still moving. I have cubase 12.0.40

Most probably you have some MIDI loopback involved with some of your Remote Device.

I’m new to CUBASE and have been watching tutorials to learn very basic things and it keeps freezing. Sometimes it also says it can’t find my licenses, but I purchased CUBASE 12 a few months ago. I shut down and reopen and then it sees the licenses again. But then it freezes. I just keep going in circles. This just started yesterday (March 9, 2023)

I have the same problems.
I use Cubase 12 Pro/Windows 11, and the problems are:

  1. Cubase stops during startup, either at “Scanning VST 3 Plug-ins…” or if I have removed 3rd party plugins, at “Initializing Content”. To get the program running, I must log on to the PC again (no need to restart the PC).
  2. If I open Cubase, the program stops after a while, the sound continues, but the picture and navigation hangs. I then also have to log out and restart.
  3. I also have problems exiting Cubase, it hangs there too. This problem got better when I unchecked “Use Hub” under preferences.

I have made the following changes and tested:
• Rolled back NIVIDA driver.
• Updated Windows
• Updated 3rd party apps and drivers, changed sound card, removed preferences in Cubase, removed 3rd party apps.

But the problems have continued.
I have downloaded dump files, but am not able to interpret them myself:
• The first two files were downloaded as Cubase hung when opening the program.
• The next two files were also downloaded when Cubase hung on opening, but at a different point in the startup process. This time the program eventually opened and worked.
• The next three files were downloaded when Cubase hung while working, (and the sound continues).

I would greatly appreciate it if you/someone could take a look at the files.

Could you try in the Cubase Safe Start Mode [Disable preferences] and open the project in this mode, please?

Or could you try to trash/rename Cubase 12 Preferences folder (in the best case even older Cubase versions, if you have any). Don’t forget to backup the folder first, please.

Cubase Preferences folders are:
Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/Cubase X
Win: %appData% Steinberg/Cubase X_64
