Cubase is not working, and I broke it.
I originally had issues with my expression maps not retaining their information once saved, and I quit the template. Upon reloading the template with tracks (but no midi events). The expression maps lost their routing. I essentially had to click on the instrument, go to expression maps, and click from the dropdown the expression maps I had downloaded into Cubase. Shouldn’t they have already been mapped so it was just plug-and-play?
I digress.
Onto the larger issue.
I decided to update it to 12.0.70. I do not know how to check which version I had earlier, but let’s just assume it was the one before 12.0.70. All I did was this: I deleted the current Cubase Application, went to the Steinberg Download Assistant, and downloaded the 12.0.70 version. Once that was done, I tried re-opening my old .cpr template and I came across this issue repeatedly:
Just for context, it says:
LOAD ERROR
This song contains instruments that are not installed or could not be found.
2 Irish Whistles HI D Sus Vib Wes
Do you want to download the instrument now?
Always Download No Download
You cannot click on this prompt, and the Loading Channel: ++Master smaller prompt remains loading as well. Nothing changes. You cannot click on anything, essentially, at this point you cannot do anything further.

So logically I thought, okay, I have a VST connection issue. Let me go remake that connection.
I open up Cubase and deactivate all the plug-ins upon booting:
As you can see, there is no correct instrument vst to load, no pathway to my instruments:
Then I go to VST-plugin manager and of course it is empty.
Now after a re-scan:
It is able to find the instruments, and now re-syncs all the tracks in the session, and I can find the player platforms (Kontakt, Sine player, Etc):
However, once you save, quit, and reopen I get the same error as before when originally opening.
It is an endless cycle of broke. I have attempted a complete re-install, purging older files, etc. Nothing works. Please send help and comment if convenient!
